Day 24 -
View Larger Map 7/24 - Pioneer Day! - Our goal was to leave the house at 06:30, but we didn't all get out the door until more like 07:10. We drove in two cars to Seward and arrived at 09:15 for the 10:00 ferry. The weather was very stormy which made the ferry ride extra fun, but made it so that it was not safe to leave the bay to see the calving glacier, too bad. We did see lots of wildlife though; we saw otters, porpoise, puffins, sea lions, and 3 different sightings of Humpback whales.
Our group stopped for lunch on Fox Island for a Salmon Bake. It was delicious. The tour was originally scheduled for 5 hrs, but ended early and had us back to the dock at about 14:00.
Roseanne had arranged to stay at a B&B for the night so we all went there and checked in. We rented the whole house for the night, beds and accommodations for 10 guests. We were 7, but with Cherise and Millie coming later we would be a total of 9. After choosing our beds and settling in, we all got back in the car and drove to town. We did some shopping and then found a restaurant for dinner. After dinner we had some ice cream at the local creamery before going back to our B&B. Everyone got to bed early and we all slept great.
